That's amazing how much progress you've made! Your art is terrific—great shadow work and anatomy. How would you describe your artistic journey? What points did you struggle with the most? How did you learn to draw, and what techniques do you consider to be the most prevalent in your process?

BluZer0 responds:

Thank you very much, it means a lot!
It's been a slow work in progress. I always look at past works and see what I could've done better. Anatomy/dynamic poses are things I struggle with, and my sense of color isn't the best, either. Going to keep trying until I get it!
I learned to draw by crudely doodling my favorite characters growing up. Then, I took some art classes to learn the basics a little better.
I gather multiple references and mix them up, creating a more unique pose. I always try to give the line art more variation in weight, so the overall outline doesn't look too flat/static. Furthermore, I color the line art.
Lastly, I try not to rush through the drawing, and will sometimes "let it sit" for a day. This helps me notice flaws, or just things that look weird and need a fix.

It's really cool that you're both amazing at making music and creating art! The silhouettes are great, and the color palettes are very nice. You have a real knack for designing interesting outfits.

ConnorGrail responds:

Thank you for your kind words :) although in this one I can't take credit for the outfits, these characters are straight out of the game!

You’ve got a great sense of perspective. Do you have any rituals or routines you follow when creating art?

BasilBalanon responds:

Thanks! I'm not particularly disciplined with my routine when drawing, but if you'd like to learn perspective, I recommend Marcos Mateu-Mestre's book Framed Perspective. I find that most perspective books don't really teach it in a way that shows the reader how to apply perspective in the scenes they're drawing, but Marcos' book definitely does.

The background work is stunning. What’s the best piece of advice you’ve ever received about art?

Octo responds:

idk i don't get advice rly.
i learned how 2 draw by looking at drawings :-)

I’m loving the vibe of this piece.

LilnuBy responds:

Thank you!

I'm genuinely impressed by the texture in your work, as well as the composition. The dark background makes the colors pop beautifully! @iefCuadricula, how did you become interested in creating art, and how did you discover Newgrounds?

iefCuadricula responds:

Oh well, I started drawing when I was 11 years old thanks to my tutor at school who motivated me to continue, and I had heard about Newgrounds for a long time but I wasn't sure if I would really be ready to be here, but in the end I decided and I love this place hehehe.

Fantastic composition, it flows so well.

GooBone responds:

Thank you!

This is really creative, love it! What tools or software do you use for your art?

Pizzadude360 responds:

thank you! i use clip studio paint

The attention to detail is impressive. How do you decide on color palettes for your work?

Priipit responds:

Pinterest helps a lot with inspiration

You’ve captured the atmosphere beautifully. Can you describe your creative process?

HibbySloth responds:

Of course! I do extremely rough WIPs, focus on line art and flat coloring in SAI, then playing with brushes for a painted background look.
